Indoor summer training ideas

With temperatures close to 110° and the safety of dogs seriously questionable, traditional outdoor activities and dog training can be challenging in Austin.

Summer can be very unbearable to be outdoors with your dogs, particularly in Austin, Texas. With temperatures near 110° and the safety of the dogs really being questionable, traditional outdoor activities and dog training in Austin can be challenging. We thought we would provide a list of some ways to exercise your dogs without exposing them to the high summer temperatures.

  • Try some ‘find it’ games with your dog’s favorite toy or treat.
  • Teach them to automatically go to their place when they hear the doorbell (a cheap wireless doorbell is a great way for a person to call the bell without having to go outside)
  • When going to buy a wireless doorbell, take your dog into the home improvement center (make sure dogs are welcomed first).
  • Set up some temptations on your counters and work your dog out of their counter-surfing problems.
