Cold Treats For Your Dog In Summer

Summertime is a great time to take your dog walking with you! You can take some early morning rest on your neighborhood stroll or you can explore a new stream on your next walk together. All of this outdoor activity can leave your dog feeling a little warm and tired. This season, we have assembled some of our favorite ideas for cool treats for your dog. Enjoy!

Broth Ice Cubes

If your dog loves a crunch ice cube after a walk, or just after dropping one on the floor by the fridge, you’ll blow his mind if you make his next ice treat a little meatier. Simply freeze frozen ice cubes full of chicken or beef broth and keep them in the freezer for an extra special treat. This is an excellent way to use up the last of the broth you didn’t need for your chicken piccata recipe. These ice cubes can stain, so give them your dog on the porch or keep them on his place while he enjoys the refreshing treat.

Frozen Kongs

Dogs who already love a good kong or puzzle will love this frozen take off particularly. Just put an ice cube inside the kong, or freeze the toy itself for a refreshing and cool break from normal operations.

Dog Ice Cream

We know, we know dog ice cream can seem like a ridiculous purchase. Your dog will love the cold treat and you will love knowing that the treat is safe for your furry companion. Visit local pet shops or online pet retailers for this cool treat.

Frozen Fruit

Dogs that love a crunchy apple – will enjoy the frozen version particularly. Slice apples into manageable strips for your dog and freeze. Pull them out as soon as you need them and give them to your dog immediately. Remind to slice your apples and leave the seeds and core in the trash.

Bananas are another great fruit to freeze for your dog. Even better are those extra-ripe bananas you know you will not be able to turn into a bread dipped treat perfect to halve and freeze for your dog.

Do you have a favorite frozen treat you want to serve to your dog in the summer? We would love to hear your thoughts!
